A seventh season of “The Chew” would have, probably, been more than what Daphne Oz could swallow.
Hence, her decision to opt out of the ABC daytime talk show after six seasons, making it public with an Instagram post of a picture of herself together with fellow hosts Carla Hall, Mario Batali, Michael Symon and Clinton Kelly.
The post was captioned, “it has been an incredible 6 seasons with the @abcthechew crew, and I am honored to always be a part of this wild family of 5! thank you for being the BEST audience, and for spending your lunch time with me.”
“It has been so much fun having lunch with you on TV’s most delicious daytime show for the past six seasons, and I am immensely grateful to have found dear friends in my co-hosts and our team,” she said in another statement. “I have had the great privilege of growing up at our family table, and have shared some huge milestones along the way – including the birth of my first two children, and recent announcement of a third on the way! – and am lucky to have had The Chew as a bright beginning to my career.”
Daughter of Dr. Oz, the popular television doctor, Daphne had been with “The Chew” from the very outset back in 2011. Reportedly, she is not being replaced with a new face in season seven.
“When Daphne started with us she had recently graduated college, was a new bride, and ready to take on the world,” Rebecca Campbell, president of ABC Owned Stations and Daytime, said in a statement.
“She is now a mother, broadcaster, writer and inspiration to millions of viewers whom she has shown how to create healthier eating options for themselves and their families. She really has created a unique brand for herself and the network.”
“She is one of the greatest natural broadcasters I have ever worked with. The moment she sat at the table with Mario, Clinton, Michael, and Carla, I knew we had a great television show,” said Gordon Elliott – series creator and executive producer. “Her chemistry, honesty, and intelligence are her trademarks, and they will stand with her wherever she goes.”
The author/ TV host has two children with husband John Jovanovic whom she married back in August 2010. The couple has a 3-year-old daughter, Philomena, and a one-year-old son Jovan and expecting their third child soon. The Dress Barn brand ambassador had announced the news of the expected addition to the family back in June on Instagram.
“Party of 5!! John and I are overjoyed to be adding to our family with a baby girl later this winter,” she wrote alongside her photo, which showcased her ample belly. “Philo and JJ will be the best big siblings!!”
