Jennifer Aniston and husband Justin Theroux celebrated two years of marital bliss on Saturday. The usually reserved Justin Theroux marked the occasion by posting an intimate selfie with wife Aniston on Instagram attracting 59,000 likes in the first seven hours. A surge of compliments and good wishes from excited fans and friends soon followed the post.
The picture shows 48-year old Aniston planting a gentle kiss on husband Theroux’s (45) cheek looking at the camera while the Leftovers star looks straight ahead into the distance.
“Isn’t number two cotton? Am I supposed to get something cotton? So probably just a bag of cotton,” the actor joked when E! News asked him about what he planned to gift his wife.
“They love to laugh and share a wicked sense of humor,” said an entertainment source to PEOPLE. “It’s possible that this marriage would not have worked as well if they were in their 20s, but they aren’t. They are great friends and have total respect for each other.”
After being away from each other because of professional commitments, “they have so much to catch up on and it makes their marriage more exciting,” the source said to PEOPLE. “Justin can still make Jen blush. She still talks about how she finds him very sexy. Not seeing each other every day makes them appreciate each other more.”
The couple took the nuptial plunge at their Bel Air mansion on August 5, 2015, in a hush-hush ceremony. So well-kept was the secret that guests were not aware they were attending a wedding party until the last moment. Most of them were led to believe that they had been invited to Theroux’s birthday party – with just a privileged few privy to the planned surprise.
According to some reports Aniston’s Friends co-stars Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow, as well as Portia de Rossi, Tobey Maguire, Jason Bateman, Ellen DeGeneres, Howard Stern, John Krasinski, Jimmy Kimmel, Emily Blunt, Billy Crudup, Terry Richardson, Will Arnett, and Lake Bell, were the chosen few who knew about the disguised wedding party.
Howard Stern went on to confirm on his SiriusXM radio show “The Howard Stern Show” that he was one of the few guests who did have knowledge of the surprise.”I was so nervous,” he said. “They’re so secretive, those two.”
Although a very private person when it comes to his relationship with Aniston, Theroux was pretty candid in an interview with “Rhapsody” back in April.
“Marriage makes the small things much smaller and the big things small,” he said.
While it was Aniston’s second marriage, Theroux was taking his first marital vows; however, he had been in a fourteen-year-relationship with stylist Heidi Bivens – the affair ending in 2011.
Aniston’s divorce to Pitt was highly publicized by the media – making it to the front pages of tabloids for years to come.
Speaking about the divorce in an interview with the “Hollywood Reporter” in January 2015, Aniston said, “Nobody did anything wrong… It was just like, sometimes things [happen].”
